How to use the calculator
Use the Pension Calculator to estimate your monthly pension based on current dollars.
This calculator estimates your monthly pension based on the information that you enter. It allows you to specify your estimated retirement age, the number of years of pensionable service that you estimate you will have at the commencement of your pension, and your current five-year average pensionable salary.
Before beginning, you should estimate the period of five consecutive years during which your salaries were the highest and calculate the average annual salary. You can find your current five-year average on your Plan Member Statement which you received in the mail from ATRF.
A part-time employee should annualize each year's earnings. For example, a plan member receiving $35,000 for half-time employment for the entire year would have an annualized salary of $70,000.
Calculator Limitations
- The calculator is not designed to provide a pension estimate based on salary increases you may receive in the future.
- If you are not currently teaching, the pension estimate will be slightly understated; contact ATRF for a personalized pension estimate.
- If your pensionable salary exceeds the maximum pensionable earnings for any year since 1991, contact ATRF for a personalized pension estimate.
A personalized pension estimate is available by contacting ATRF. At the time of your retirement, your age, pensionable service and pensionable salary will be reviewed to determine your pension.
This estimate does not create any rights to a pension or any other benefit. In the event of any error or omission in this estimate, the legal requirements of the plan will govern.
