The Alberta Teachers' Retirement Fund Board, located in Edmonton, Alberta, requires a full-time Equity Trader to join the Public Equities group.
The position works with the Head of Public Equities on the management of internal Canadian equity portfolios by executing transactions for internal equity portfolios in addition to providing analytical support to the fund as needed. Detailed job responsibilities are:
- Equity Trading - monitors market movements and trade flows and maintains on-going communication with investment dealers. Determines best method of completing trades in order to optimize price and market impact, while balancing commission allocations to dealers. Negotiates and executes equity and derivative transactions through investment dealers and electronic trading systems.
- Equity Research Support - participates in the management of the Canadian Internal Equity portfolio by providing research support to analysts and the portfolio manager. This may include evaluating economic trends, market data, internal/external research and reporting findings to the team. Specific activities include database management, sensitivity analysis, detailed computer modeling, and developing and maintaining relationships with various counterparties.
- Ad hoc projects - may include researching and writing reports on various asset classes and/or providing miscellaneous analytical support as required.
The successful candidate will have strong analytical and communication skills, financial market knowledge, spreadsheet proficiency, and enjoy working in a team setting. Applicants will have completed an undergraduate degree and will have or will be pursuing a CFA designation.
