Teachers' Pension Plan

The pension plan for teachers in the school jurisdictions and charter schools covers approximately

• 38,023 active teachers,
• 22,970 pensioners
• 12,131 inactive former teachers

with benefit entitlements under the plan and 82 employers.

As at August 31, 2011, the value of funding liabilities relating to service accrued subsequent to August 31, 1992 by members of the Teachers' Pension Plan exceeds the funding value of assets by $1.751 billion.
