The Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund (ATRF) is looking for a passionate, bright and results driven individual to join our Finance team as a Budget & Financial Analyst.
Established in 1939, the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund Board (ATRF) has provided exceptional administration for Alberta teachers’ pension plans for over 80 years. ATRF takes pride in delivering the highest quality service to more than 80,000 plan members.
Reporting to the Controller, this position provides support in financial accounting services with a primary focus on budget and forecast cycles. The Budget & Financial Analyst is primarily responsible for collaborating with business units to collect information necessary for budgets and quarterly forecasts, the analysis of financial results, and assisting with the preparation of yearly budgets and quarterly reporting packages. Additionally, this position will provide support in the strategic insights derived from financial analysis related to business performance, the corporate business planning process, and benchmarking.
The ideal candidate will be results oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving skills along with high attention to detail and accuracy. This position requires an individual with strong communication skills and is able to build and maintain strong working relationships.

Qualifications, Experience and Capabilities:
- Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce. Other combinations of education such as a diploma in Finance or Accounting supplemented with additional experience may be considered;
- Minimum of three years of applicable work experience forecasting, preparing budgets, working papers and/or financial statements;
- Experience working in strategic management and business planning processes is desirable;
- Ability to actively listen, seek information, and ask questions to ensure the understanding of underlying concerns of others;
- Business acumen and organizational agility;
- Results-oriented, highly effective and efficient to manage competing demands;
- Able to effectively and efficiently gather relevant information from a range of sources;
- Excellent technical skills: Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, Accounting Systems and applications;
- Strong attention to detail with record of meticulous and organized work
